Dr. Edison Barrientos and Dr. Albarracin

Veterinarians Dr. Barrientos, Dr. Albarracin and office manager Melissa Chatterjee have helped to raise over $4500.00 for the Farley Foundation over the past two years. The Farley Foundation is a charitable organization that provides financial assistance for veterinary care to seniors and people with disabilities.

In these days of spiraling costs, there is an ever increasing number of clients that cannot afford veterinary care for their pets. It is especially distressing, when some of these patients have treatable conditions. Fortunately, the Farley Foundation is there to help these owners and their pets. So when the opportunity arose to do a fundraiser for the Farley Foundation we jumped at it. All our staff got involved; we solicited the help of some of our suppliers and had a very successful raffle. We also asked our clients to sponsor Dr. Albarracin and myself in a 100 km bike ride. We were taken aback by the generous contributions of many of our clients.

So that is how I found myself early one September morning setting out on a 100 km bike ride, with about 50 other riders . As most of you know I am not the most fit person. I try to go to the gym once in a blue moon but its hit and miss. Luckily I had trained for a couple of months before this ride and even though it was tough I managed to finish in the middle of the group. (Last year I finished dead last).

It was hard but we did it. It was a great feeling to successfully finish the race and most importantly, to know that our efforts would help people and pets in need. I look forward to doing this again next year. Thank you to all of those who sponsored us. If you would like to contribute to this great charity, go to www.farleyfoundation.org.
